Guest: Silverfest...why the weekend change?

My hats go off to the volunteers who work hard year-round to plan the "Silverfest". I don't want to sound negative towards the oragnizers but, why the weekend before the August long weekend?  I totaly understand that this is not the "Miners Festival", but I would imagine you would have much more pariticipation in this festival if it were held on the Civic long weekend. I have heard the reasons in changing it was "The truck rodeo",  but the people who come home to Cobalt for a visit stick around the town and Bass Lake for the ball tournament. It would be nice to have it all in the same weekend again.  I am pretty sure the Mining Museum run is on the long weekend as well. Anyways I hope if it not as big of a success this year you would consider chaning the dates.  I know my family and friends will not be making the 6 hour drive up for 2 days but will be there the following weekend to celebrate. In total we are an extra 35 people home, who would have enjoyed the festivities if only the dates were changed.

Douglas Price ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ): Where are the old guestbook entries?

Not a bad sight.

I liked the pre-2003 website the best.

What happened to the old Guestbook entries from the older version guestbooks from people a lot of us will likely never hear from or about again?

They should be archived in a folder on this website so we can all review them for nostalgia's sake.

I enjoy visting your site periodically to see what is happening in and about Cobalt and North Cobalt.  My father was born and raised in North Cobalt and he shared many happy and interesting stories about his early childhood and youth growing up in this area in the 1930s and 1940s.  My grandfather was one of the many miners who worked in the silver mines there.  I always enjoyed visiting my grandparents and extended family with my family in the 1960s and 1970s.  I look forward to getting back sometime to visit again.

Just thinking of the old days as a family in Cobalt. My dad was Walter Mayer, a miner most of his life in Cobalt and buried there. Thinking of dad and Cobalt.

Moving to Cobalt in two months.  We fell in love with its scenery and rich history. When we first visited this site, we were impressed by the tours descriptions. It gave us an idea of how special it would be to live there. It would be nice to see more photos of the town now and then. A beautiful shot of the whole town on the main page would look nice. Thanks.

It's missing a few things.. like the location of the town hall? Even the people like CAO's or Information Technology staff? Smile I really like the layout though.
